Scientific and Investigative Support of the Transformations in the “Neighborhood Kids” Project

MsC Silvia Castillo Suárez, Dr Pedro Luis Castro Alegret.

The “Neighborhood Kids” Project, which focus the children coming from disadvantaged families, should give the children a compensatory curriculum, which stimulates them from the classroom in their personal development. At the same time tries to influence the families and communities from the school in order to improve the educative conditions involving these children.

The project has generated its transformation approach from participatory workshops. At the same time, they allow the deeper understanding of the disadvantage and compensatory processes effects. In this research work are presented the workshops made and other intervention activities, seen as a system.

In this work are also discussed the foundations of this transformation and the relations with the participatory action investigation. Likewise, there is expressed the initial diagnosis idea through the inquiry with the focused population as well as through diagnosis workshops.

Finally, the perspectives of this project are presented as part of the ICCP “Group Curriculum” studies.
