Investigating Literacy Involvement of Young Children in MalaysiaDr. Mahzan Arshad. The participant of this study were two kindergarten children selected based on their achievement in learning literacy at young age. The finding of the study reveals that home environment is most important factor in literacy achievement in early years of schooling. It was found that home and parenting influenced children's reading and writing ability. The study shows that parent role as models are the most important factor for literacy learning for young children. Evidence also shows that parent who fail to indulge in literacy activities at home contribute towards children's difficulties to acquire literacy skills in school.
