Creating Workplace Learning Communities in PNG
The presentation will describe the process of introducing an innovative approach to training delivery in a developing country.
Formal workplace based training had not previoulsy been used in Paua New Guinea. In a number of projects, the presenter has been invlvoed in helping public sector officials make use of a strong comminuty focused social structure to transfer some of the social principles to work based learning.
In part the projects have helped to develop capacity to institutionalise workplace based training and non formal learning. These forms of learning have been used to deliver formally recognised qualifications that are customised to specific needs - not just of the workplace -but of individual learners.
